There’s a new way to bring a little piece of wildlife conservation home from your next SeaWorld visit!
We spotted official Fahlo wildlife-tracking bracelets for sale inside Shoppes at the Waterfront at SeaWorld Orlando.
If you’ve never heard of Fahlo, the company combines wildlife conservation with a pretty unique experience: each bracelet connects you with a real animal that you can follow through the Fahlo app.
Founded in 2018, Fahlo works alongside wildlife conservation organizations and researchers around the world. According to the company, it has now grown to more than 6 million users worldwide and has donated more than $5.6 million toward wildlife and habitat conservation efforts.
So, how does it work?
Each bracelet comes with a card containing a QR code. Scan the code, add your animal to the Fahlo app, and you’ll be introduced to the individual animal connected with your bracelet. From there, you can explore its movements on an interactive map and receive information, photos, videos, and updates about the animal and its species. And there are a LOT of animals to choose from.
Depending on Fahlo’s currently available collections, tracking experiences include animals such as:
Orcas
Dolphins
Sharks
Whale sharks
Sea turtles
Seals
Manatees
Penguins
Polar bears
Lions
Elephants
Giraffes
Rhinos
Gorillas
Red wolves
Sloths
Koalas
Snow leopards
Bison
…and more.
Some collections even allow you to follow different species within the same animal group. Fahlo’s sea turtle program, for example, can connect trackers with loggerhead, leatherback, hawksbill or green sea turtles, while its dolphin collection includes bottlenose, rough-toothed and Atlantic spotted dolphins. The tracking information comes through Fahlo’s conservation and research partners. One important thing to know is that the location shown in the app isn’t necessarily a live GPS location. For the animals’ protection, Fahlo says tracking paths may be live, delayed, or historical, depending on safety requirements established with its nonprofit partners. Fahlo’s Red Wolf experience, for example, uses representative historical tracking data rather than revealing the locations of the fewer than 20 individuals remaining in the wild.
And yes, you can even track an orca…just not quite yet. Those won’t re-release until November, so keep an eye out!
According to Fahlo, 10% of the company’s profits are donated to its nonprofit conservation partners, supporting efforts including wildlife research and monitoring, habitat restoration, education, rescue and rehabilitation, and species conservation worldwide. For SeaWorld guests who already have a soft spot for marine life, these might be one of the coolest new souvenirs we’ve spotted in the park.
Where we found them: Shoppes at the Waterfront at SeaWorld Orlando
How they work: Scan your bracelet’s card, meet your animal, and follow its journey through the Fahlo app
Purpose: Your purchase also helps support Fahlo’s wildlife conservation partners.
We’ll definitely be keeping an eye out to see which species SeaWorld carries — and whether even more Fahlo collections make their way into the park!
