If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to run a 5K through SeaWorld Orlando after dark, while also being chased by monsters – well, now is your chance to find out, because Howl-O-Sprint 5k is back for a third year!
On Friday, September 18, SeaWorld Orlando’s Howl-O-Sprint 5K takes runners through the park after the sun goes down, and this definitely isn’t your typical theme park fun run.
The course winds past some of SeaWorld’s biggest coasters and straight through eerie areas of the park, complete with scare zones and creatures waiting along the way. Basically, you’re running 3.1 miles through SeaWorld at night while Howl-O-Scream tries to make you run just a little faster.
And the best part? Crossing the finish line doesn’t mean your night is over.
Registration for Howl-O-Sprint also includes admission to Howl-O-Scream that same night, so once you’ve survived the 5K, you can stick around for the haunted houses, scare zones, shows and the rest of the event.

Howl-O-Scream is intended for a mature audience and contains intense adult content including violence, gore, and blood. The nighttime Howl-O-Scream event is ticketed separately, and costumes are not allowed.
Event Timeline goes as such:
5:00 pm – Parking lot opens for participants
5:30 pm – Registration and Packet Pickup opens
6:30pm – Parking lot closes – please plan to be onsite at least 45 minutes before the race starts!
7:00 pm – START of the Howl-O-Sprint 5K
8:00 pm – Awards Ceremony. All finishers are then welcome to enjoy the Howl-O-Scream event.
Besides the bragging rights that come with surviving 3.1 miles through Howl-O-Scream, runners get quite a few extras with their registration.
Every Howl-O-Sprint 5K participant will receive a commemorative race T-shirt and, once you cross that finish line, a custom Howl-O-Sprint finisher medal. To make sure you get your preferred shirt size, you’ll need to register by September 4.
Race-day parking is also completely free, which is always a nice little bonus at a theme park.
But here’s where the registration really gets good: runners receive complimentary admission to Howl-O-Scream immediately following the race, so you can go straight from being chased through a 5K to willingly walking into haunted houses. Because apparently we make excellent decisions.
You’ll ALSO receive a free Howl-O-Scream park ticket valid September 18 through October 31, 2026, giving you another opportunity to come back during the Halloween season.
And if you’re thinking about doing it, don’t wait too long. The Howl-O-Sprint 5K is capped at just 2,000 runners.
