Just One More Chapter
Love takes a toxic turn inside Just One More Chapter. Inspired by modern dark romance, this hauntingly beautiful scare zone invites guests into an enchanted garden where cursed lovers, mysterious antiheroes, and dangerously alluring creatures tempt visitors deeper into a story where every great romance begins with a terrible decision. Beneath the beauty lies obsession, betrayal and heartbreak waiting around every corner.
Our Review
This scare zone probably got the most hype, so we’ll cover it first.
Walking into this zone, you are almost immediately greeted by someone tall, dark, and handsome…and yes…it’s hot. The set designs put you into a dark castle romance with cathedrals, barred windows, and…a very questionable book. We didn’t see any female scareactors the first two nights, which made us wonder if this is completely geared toward the “BookTok” crowd. Was this area scary? No. Did our group still enjoy it? Yes…maybe one of them a bit too much. The actors here are very interactive and have some great one-liners. And they do not hold back. If you are shy or blush easily…be prepared for this zone. This area will leave you thirsty and coming back for more.

The scripts. They will say the most SHOCKING things. And we are absolutely here for it. We kept our animal editor, Jenn, from this article on purpose, or you’d be here all day.
Extermination Order
The infestation reaches its breaking point inside Extermination Order. Swarms of horrifying insects have taken over, forcing exterminators into an all-out battle against an invasion that has already spiraled beyond control. As creatures crawl through every corner of the zone, guests quickly discover they may have arrived far too late to stop what’s spreading.
Our Review
When we arrived in this area, you wouldn’t even know it was a scare zone without the sign. It lacked props, with just a couple of plastic-covered tents representing quarantine containment units. There wasn’t really anything going on inside them, and we didn’t witness any practical effects within the units at the time.
The scare actors were a mix of characters in coveralls and mesh face coverings, looking like CDC-style authority figures trying to protect themselves while helping others. They did have backpack sprayers and would occasionally mist you with water, which was pretty refreshing with the Florida heat still hanging around in September. If anything, we enjoyed the walkthrough for that reason.
This scare zone had a lot of potential but missed the mark by not having more props and practical effects. Something as simple as lighting inside the quarantine units to make it look like sick or infected people were inside would have added so much to the atmosphere and easily improved the area. It felt a little rushed or incomplete to us. The only props we personally saw were a spider and some sprayers. Not much playing was going on here.
The zone also suffers from being out of the way, with no haunted houses immediately nearby. It’s sort of just there for people who happen to take the longer way around the lake. Because of that, it ends up feeling more like filler, and we noticed a severe lack of people overall in this part of the park.
What Stood Out
The backpack sprayers created a unique, practical effect and were surprisingly refreshing in this heat. More “4D” effects, please. We loved this!
Nekrosis
Nekrosis is where the biggest party of the 90s came to a horrifying end. When the clock struck midnight on January 1, 2000, this once-thriving seaside town was forever changed by an infectious mystery that left its residents frozen in time. Now, zombies roam among abandoned video stores, forgotten technology, and relics of the decade, proving some eras refuse to stay dead.
Our Review
It’s 1999, and the party never dies. Never! This seaside town is stuck celebrating the coming of the year 2000, but it never gets to see it. So every scare actor, well, almost everyone, is celebrating!
This is the opening scare zone if you enter Howl-O-Scream through the main entrance. If you watch the opening of Howl-O-Scream, you’ll see Havoc and their newest character, Pestilence, tell their story and set the mood. You quickly learn that Pestilence has infected this town, which might explain why the party never seems to end.
The theming, props, and layout make this one of the most immersive scare zones this year. It’s not the scariest when it is still daytime, and you can see everyone coming for you, but once the sun goes down, things change dramatically. Because it’s such a party zone and everyone, including guests, can be seen jamming out to the songs of their youth, the Nekrosis crew will sneak right up on you.
Two of the houses, I Know What You Did Last Summer and The Crawlspace, funnel guests directly into this zone, so a constant flow of people comes through.
This zone is also home to one of the main merchandise stores, Howl-O-Flix, which looks like a parody of a Blockbuster store. You’ll also find The Rewind bar here, which is where the Dead Air boy band show takes place every hour starting at 7:45 PM.
Millennials, rise! This zone IS for you.
What Stood Out
The nostalgia smacks you right in the face. You will dance. The immersion here is also on point.
Trailer Park Tragedy
Returning fan favorite Trailer Park Tragedy delivers its signature blend of horror and dark humor as guests wander into a rundown trailer park where suspicious residents fiercely defend their forgotten neighborhood. Behind every rusted camper and flickering porch light waits another unsettling surprise.
Our Review
You know you’re approaching the trailer park before you even see the signs. The trailer props really stand out; they’re well decorated, and this year they’ve added porches that seem to keep the homeowners at bay.
This is a returning zone for a reason. You get hit hard in this area, and the characters are off-the-wall insane. They try their best to make you feel at home, but something about them just seems a little off. This is a must-visit scare zone, easily one of the best themed at Howl-O-Scream and an absolute blast. It also gets a lot of foot traffic since you’ll pass through it while traveling between several houses and two top-notch shows. The Darknet also exits into The Byte Bar, which leads you right through this scare zone as you continue your adventures.
You’ll find yourself walking through this scare zone a lot, and every time there seems to be something new, unique and hilarious happening!
What Stood Out
The theming and props are great, but the scare actors really make this zone stand out. They seem to have as much fun entertaining themselves as they do the guests, making every trip through entertaining and unpredictable. Watch out for Lacey. That girl is everyone’s crazy stalker ex.
Woodrot Hollow
Returning fan favorite Woodrot Hollow invites guests back into a forest consumed by decay, where twisted trees, rotting foliage, and ancient woodland creatures have reclaimed the wilderness. Every winding path leads deeper into a landscape overtaken by corruption.
Our Review
Eerie sounds start to fill the air as you approach Woodrot Hollow. This scare zone has improved with even more props filling the area, creating a natural maze to weave through and giving the scare actors even more places to hide and strike. The scare actors in this area wear ghillie suits, allowing them to blend in seamlessly with their surroundings. Once it gets dark, they can be very difficult to spot. They don’t roam around much, instead finding places to stand or sit perfectly still while waiting for their victims to get close.
From time to time, you’ll also encounter scare actors on stilts towering above everyone and roaming around like massive swamp creatures – these were our favorites from this area. Once darkness falls, this is a must-see scare zone! We just wish they would expand it even more and add different characters. There seems to be only one thing going on here – guille suits. Since it’s next to the orca enclosures, some zombie trainers would be kind of neat!
What Stood Out
When the roaming stilt monsters are out, they easily elevate this scare zone to another level. One could bend down to eye level with a guest in a wheelchair, which was especially unnerving.
Dooms District
Civilization crumbles inside Dooms District, where the apocalypse has finally arrived but no one can agree how the world ends. As conspiracy theorists, survivalists, and doomsday preppers compete for new recruits, guests must decide who to trust while navigating a town in complete collapse. In a world where every theory could be true, survival is anything but guaranteed.
Our Review
New for this year is Dooms District, where the world is ending, the time is nigh, and competing factions are trying to convince you why they’re right and everyone else is wrong. The props are top-notch, and the conspiracy theories about the end are highly entertaining. The scare actors really crank this area up. They make the zone their own, and the characters are extremely interactive, pulling you in to join their antics whenever possible. Lots of little details dot this area, so take your time.
Even though Dooms District is a little out of the way, it’s located near SeaWorld’s main shopping area and is easily one of the best scare zones this year!
What Stood Out
The scare actors really make this zone their own. The way they pull you into their world to play along is top-notch, easily making this one of our favorite scare zones of the event.
Roaming Sliders and Chainsaws
Keep an eye out around the two premier shows, Monster Stomp and Throttle, where roaming mobs of sliders and chainsaw-wielding scare actors may be lurking nearby.
